Nancy O'Dell started her career in the broadcast industry as a reporter at WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She worked later as morning news anchor at WCBD TV and was a crime reporter. O'Dell's reports in Charleston regarding the police's tolerance in DUI cases, prompted the State Law Enforcement Division to look into the matter. This led to state authorities issuing more strict rules in these instances. Ms. O'Dell received the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. O'Dell has worked at Charleston as a reporter and anchor at the NBC Miami WTVJ-TV station, before transferring over to Access Hollywood where she is currently a co-anchor and correspondent during weekends. O'Dell, as well as being the lead anchor for Access Hollywood, also appears on NBC News Today as well Dateline NBC. She has covered major events like The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. Alongside co-hosting the Pre-ShowArrivals to The Emmys & The Golden Globes. Also, she co-hosted Miss USA's pageant, as and the Miss Universe Pageant.
